Sigma Orionis — Sigma Project

Digital Concert Season 2020 / 2021

The first digital concert season created by the SIGMA Project quartet is born under the name SIGMA ORIONIS and will feature top international guests.

Between December 2020 and March 2021 SIGMA Project will broadcast 9 micro-concerts recorded for the occasion in various locations, accessible online for free.

Each broadcast will be introduced by one of the performers of the quartet, acting as master of ceremonies and alongside the composer of the piece to be performed. At the end of the concert, a dialogue will take place between SIGMA Project and the guest of the day, on content related to the work or its composer. These dialogues will be open to the interaction and participation of Internet users, through chats and digital platforms. Finally, each broadcast will conclude with a musical tip, a small pedagogical key related to the materials of the work performed and its specific instrumental technique.

SIGMA ORIONIS, a multiple star system in the constellation of the hunter Orion, is composed of the brightest elements of a young cluster of stars. Our SIGMA ORIONIS boldly pursues that young brightness, sharing the beginning of this digital season with every Internet user who wishes to join the hunt for new sounds, the perpetual search for artistic renewal.

This first SIGMA ORIONIS digital concert season has the funding and collaboration of the German music Foundation Ernest von Siemens, the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Association of Performers for the Diffusion of Contemporary Music-AIDMA of the Basque Country.

This first SIGMA ORIONIS is dedicated to the memory of Virginia Flórez, friend and partner in the beginning of our sigmatic adventure. She is at the foundation of what today is SIGMA Project. Thank you very much, Virginia.
